Things to Bring Sailing

Welcome aboard! The most important thing to bring on board is a fun loving smile and sense of humour, the serious stuff can be summed up with “as little as possible” in a soft sided bag, no knapsack frames or hard luggage.

Storage space on yachts is always in high demand. Clothing; Be prepared for all conditions from a swimsuit to a suit of rain gear, pants and jacket.

Cotton is harder to keep dry than polyesters and blends, fleecy jackets sweater, sweatshirt, vest, and pants are all very useful. A sweat top and bottoms can double for bed attire T-shirts and or golf style shirts for every second day you are on board is a good rule of thumb for quantity.

Windbreaker Pants of casual blended fibre are superior to jeans. A couple pairs of jeans are useful to have aboard but in general they can restrict your movement a little on board and stay wet longer Running style shoes, light hiking shoes for walks ashore.Sandals can be also being useful for quick runs ashore.

Note: All foot gear should not be black soled if it can all be helped, It keeps the crew from grumbling so loud about scrubbing of all those deck black marks everywhere.

Even sandals can be found with white or grey soled, Teva makes good ones. Baseball style hats, sunglasses with clips and or straps to keep them from going overboard!
